Climbing rope!

In need of some advice guys! Just bought a new climbing rope from my local supplier i purchased the new england dragonfly however the prusic cords just arnt biting as well as i hope i have tryed numerous ones. Will washing the rope remove the newness from it and greate more friction any tips? oh also ive tryed nmerous friction htiches and wraps.

Drop down to 8mm cord and it won't slip !! , New England fly and a 4/3 VT combo on a piece of 50cm from eye to eye 8mm friction cord was my favourite working combo for a long time..and it's not as harsh as some of the smaller diameter ropes.
