Ok we will go for the correct one which is £9 dearer , thats still a whopping £251 less for the same thing this side of the pond . Gates 14MGT-2660-68 Belt - Biedler's Belts

 

I am sure you could buy them even cheaper than that if you went over there. I think Gates are ripping us off over here.

We have a customer who opted for a standard toothed belt ( like a cam belt) instead of the poly belt which was lasting about 3/4 of the life of a poly belt but cost about 1/3 the price, pulleys are the same its just the belt which is different which he said also the reinforced rubber belt has a little bit of give so works better than the non flexing poly belt ( but that's one users opinion!!)

Very roughly how many hours do they last?

 

 

It's impossible to say, I know some that have been fitted incorrectly & not made an hour but others have never been changed in the life of the machine. Some belts Bandit used to fit on their grinders actually shrunk when used not stretched, they were measured with a tuning fork at the factory!
