Dispensing Chain Oil

Getting it from a 25L container into either a combi or 5L container, is proving to be both messy and time consuming.

Tried siphoning with a poly tube and that didn't work. Though chain oil is surprisingly light on the pallet, (taken in minute amounts). And tipping from container-container via a funnel messy. So, are there better (less messy, less wasteful) methods? Anything like a screw-on cap with built-in flexible tube or small inexpensive pump? By the way, it's to fit an Oregon container, just in case their thread is different to others.

I realise this theory goes against the normal thoughts, but many years ago I used 25 litre cans of engine oil in my workshop but encountered all the same issues that you have. Decanting was messy, time consuming and wasteful.

So for the last dozen years I have only used 5 litre cans. I have saved hours of labour, never spilt a drop and thus have a cleaner floor too.

Its hardly any more costly to buy in 5's than 20's or 25's, but loads cheaper in the long run.

Taking Stihl Synthetic plus at RRP as an example. A 5l can costs £3.00 per litre (plus vat), whilst in a 20l it works out at £2.95. Only 5p cheaper to buy in large cans, its never worth the effort.
