NOW back to the cabstar , what do you chaps think of the idea ?? 18 stoner's ideas made sence , my idea behing it is to try to extract timber from places a 7.5 ton lory of bigger cant get without having to ring stuff up to a size that can be trown onto a transit , by no means do i think for a second that it will carry the MASSIVE PINE TREE lol:001_tongue:

have you ever done a big pine:blushing:

Back to the Igottacabstartimbertruckwithcrane idea, I reckon if you can juggle it so you can have a genuine load capacity of a tonne, it might be worth it.

I reckon the Hiab would have to handle that in a oner, though, so you could pick up the odd butt for milling etc. on its own. Which would mean quite a chunky grab, tus adding weight blah blah blah.

What would the bed length be CTS? 8 foot?

Think it would need outriggers to lift that though, adding to weight:sad:

why not make an A frame for the rear that hinges and put a winch behind the cab, almost like a skip idea, weighs next to nothing, it would be great for monster bags of sadust and crap..and lumps of wood..i have always fancied the idea myself..a little bit of engineering would make life so much easier, look through old timber pics ofthe good old days, they used a frames and leverage to their advantage

Sounds like it could be a bit of a fun project, but, is it worth it if you can only carry 1 1 tonne log?

You prob wont be able to mount a hiab with a decent enough reach so why not think about a beaver tail style back and a winch?

Just a though (maybe useless but a thought nethertheless)
