How far will you deliver for free?

We used to go 7 miles which could be done in half an hour on a good day. But 15 miles ea way seemed to blow half the morning out and by the time you reload it's near people's lunch time.

I try and accommodate everyone, ill tie loads in with going somewhere etc. Remember delivery is VAT chargeable at 20% if your registered. Thats why I don't charge for delivery.

15 mile max they must order more than 1 cube ,i try and get a phew orders done in one trip

I would agree with you woodworks and TDC in respect of charging after the 7-10 mile area.

Its a bit tricky when you can take 7 miles of lanes or 10-12 miles of main road or 4 miles as the crow flys to get to said destinations in our locality.

 

Spending most days in the country lanes and using the the vans onboard computer I can be driving 6 hours to cover 120-150 miles some days. That's a lot of wasted time to have to attempt to pay for your time and make a living.

We do logs into surrounding area within four miles of yard at a cheaper rate. Have gone upto fifty miles but price reflected it

Mindless comment that takes no account of each individual setup i.e vehicle, trailer req'd? etc.

I keep to about 7 or 8 miles

Any further got to charge extra, its time and diesel.

As its not worked in to the initial cost of a cube of wood.

I found if you try and include delivery in cost of logs. You charge too much to people on the door step and not enough to far customers. So you end up loosing the man next door and spending all your time on the road delivering 14 miles away. On the other hand if your area is overrun with people selling logs you may just have to suffer a bit of mileage to the next town.
