i have a brand new transit tipper single cab , we tow a chipper 6 days a week with it , voas have had a good look over the truck with chipper hithed up and not once did they mention a tacho !!!

Anything bigger than a short wheelbase single wheel trailer towing needs a tacho fitted and used while towing.

You may get away with its a tool of my trade and I am within my operating centre but you need to read up i am about a year out of date.

All4x4 used for towing need a tacho.

Those nice big twin wheel iveco dailys need an o licence when driven solo but I am sure everyone knows that on here

Can you show me where this is clearly stated? ie on a vosa site etc.

Otherwise there are many many people breaking the law!

on my hgv test last year the instructor was saying this too, any vehicle used for buisness capable of going over 3.5t inc trailer is supposed to have a tacho, there may be exemptions, but that was my understanding, i too was in a bit of disbelief

There are many people breaking the law. It has been clearly stated on official government sites for over 10 years. I am not saying I agree or disagree with it. Just thought i should mention the £500 minimum fine and 6 points. Luck of the draw if you get caught ignorance is no defence in the eyes of the law.
