^^^ I agree I bet Honnald has been keeping a very keen eye on events but I hope to god he doesn't try to solo it. Look at some of the sequences that will face him in this video, especially around 2:10. Scary stuff.

Very impressive climbing.

That is of course until you see Alex Honnold solo Watkins, El Cap and Half Dome in under 19 hours. I get the impression he would have done the Dawn Face of El cap much quicker. Maybe the challenge has now been set in Honnolds mind? Hopefully so.

The Down is much harder, you can't compere. 9A max

WoW!

Just googled Alex Honnold.

Seriously impressed with his ability and demnour.

A serious question though, how does he manage virtually without water on these extended climbs?, since he obviously cannot carry, what would be deemed to be sufficient for adequate hydration?

^^^ Pete if you rock climb then Yosemite is a must. I've been lucky enough to go there for the last three years but now I'm a penniless "mature" arb student having quit my job in August.

It's an amazing place and I think it was my favourite national park when I did a west America road trip last year

Yosemite is one the top places I've been in world including Himalayas and Andes. Very special place with some awesome climbers to boot!

Don't think you could the solo the Dawn Wall. But who could have said Honnold would do what he has done. But the guys that did this climb are supposed to be very accomplished climbers and they both fell many times to complete the ascent.

Simple answer is that he climbs so quickly he doesn't need it. To put that into context consider the North West Face of Half Dome (pic below). I went to climb it last year but only got as far as the top of the Death Slabs before turning back with a fatigued partner. We'd gone equipped to climb the route in three days, sleeping on the face twice. Honnold recently soloed it in 1 hour 22 minutes!!

When you feel good about climbing decent grades or routes there is always someone 10 steps ahead of you no matter how strong you feel.. The strength of these boys is crazy..
