Still looking at the different routers available and will probably try and get a second hand dewalt or makita when i come across a decent looking one.

Most of the work i will be using the router for will be rebates. Would i need to purchase a special rebate bit or will the straight bits do exactly the same job?

Your better off with proper rebate cutters, you can manage with straight cutters but there not as good.

OK thanks what brand/make of cutters do you usually go for? and do you know of a decent set of rebate cutters i could get?

Tried quite a few brands over the years.

Like the CMT stuff and can recomend Wealdon for unusual stuff but not quite as goot TCT as some but great prices. Oldham cutters ar nice as well. Can get these from Tilgear.

When it comes to cutters, i just get whatever takes my fancy at the time. The quality of cutters vary wildly. Sometimes a £20 cutter is not as good as a £5 cutter, if you get my drift.
