Our local paper had a front page item this week, focussing on the recent past, current and ongoing outgoing Concils "SPEND" as the blow ALL their reserves, so as to merge with their neighbours (to form the new "super" Councils) with nowt but DEBT.

As investigated by the Taxpayers Alliance, also as predicted my myself for the last 3 or 4 years.

FFS!!

Good post Kevin.

Of course Thatcher made mistakes but she's head and shoulders over anyone on political scene today.

She had a vision, conviction, a direction and moral courage.

Today we seem to have media obsessed, vote chasing, reactionary politics, without foresight or strategic planning and delivered by career politicians.

No!

She was close yes, but played up too much to her own "iron lady", "the lady's not for turning" image which affected her judgement.

Holding on stubbornly to an idea that's causing mayhem all around is not a sign of strength, it's a sign of weakness. True strength is the ability to stand back, accept what YOU are doing wrong, change accordingly, and accept the criticism. She could never do that and the country is still paying the price,.....................literally.

I'm not so sure, I was fortunate enough to have a long chat with Bernard Ingham some years ago. It was an insight to what happened behind the scenes. What the country saw on TV was the 'delivery' face once the Lady had made a decision.

The country never saw the 'deciding' face that was always private. I don't want to see prevarication and 'humming and ha-hing' from a leader, I want to see decisive, clear and achievable objectives.

I do wonder if people who say they'll vote green have actually read through their policies. There's plenty to like but also plenty that'll just cause all sorts of problems. From a forestry point of view they wish to stop shooting, so what are you meant to do about deer, squirrel or rabbit numbers if you have a problem - talk nicely to them? :001_rolleyes:

Really:confused1: I've just read the forestry section of their policy document and no mention is made of that. I would think that policies FR202, FR203, and FR301 should be enough to interest anyone n this forum in voting for them

Well I must admit I am very impressed with the detail of the forestry policy put forward by the Green party its just a pity others are not so open with there policies.
