Dry kindling plus dry newspaper (sounds daft to stipulate dry paper, but you really want to store it by the fire for best results) equals fire lit. All this talk of firelighters seems over complicated to me.

Pine cones filled with oil ridden sawdust from under the chain cover off your saw is also very good.

The same gel from inside the Pampers nappies is used as a barrier by firefighters in Florida, you must be using the wrong kind. The plastic coating burns though.

I am looking to make something that can be lit very easily. And the it has to be flaming for longer than a fire lighter.
