Yes, there are a lot of variables, and I take 'Conifers' in this extract to mean 'Softwoods' as the other half of the table I have is entitled 'Hardwoods' (Half of which score worse than Corsican Pine!!) . ;)

Lleylandi is good stuff (sssh don't tell anyone)- and so is Lawson's Cypress which is quite highly prized in the States, and known as Port Orford Cedar over there....

he is called, Albert Knickerbocker Aloysius Snake. usually just "snake".

 

lawsons is another greatly underrated timber in my opinion and i think it a shame that no one comercial wishes to mill it.

 

yes i do have that book and it is an interesting read for all pub games...

Much appreciated. Have made a few copies of thisto keep in the land rover. Always being asked to make fenceposts out of unsuitable stuff. Never been able to back up my advice before. Thanks

That's the one Steve. :) I couldn't, for the life of me, remember where I'd seen it, but saved it to file and we have a copy laminated and use it in the workshop to explain stuff to customers.
