I think this tree will have a brown heart rot (possibly the reason for the presence of adaptive verticle growth ribs) and that the discoloration may be exudate and/or a bacterial type slime/gum flux that's associated with the dysfunction.

 

Likely that there will be some root dysfunction also.

 

 

 

A 10cm trim with bonsai sheers from the upper canopy should do the trick :biggrin:

Sorry for my late input, but if your looking for tech bolnocs for discript reasoning Tomicus piniperda one of the photos show a clear exit hole, look closely, see if you can spot the ball, a mean hole , ' shot hole' thats something else you could highlight in your findings.
