I've seen small ones in a garden centre for crazy money.

Happy new year all!

I've seen rubbish ones in a garden centre near me for £16. Mine retail for £9.95 through a farm shop. Re. firelighters, I use 'Flamers' wood wool ones and stick it just below the top:thumbup:

It's amazing what joe public will buy and yet they moan over the size of logs they get in a bulk bag etc and yet they pay silly money for basically A LOG .

I agree, but remember to us its just a bit of wood and 30 secs with a saw, nowt! But such things are out of the average joe publics reach, i own and run a commercial fishing boat aswell as forestry and arb and am amazed at what people pay retail for crab lobster and fish! Two a penny to me but joe public is happy to pay it!

Spot on I remember ben law saying one of his best sellers was an Irish boomerang: a stick in an envelope with "you thro it your dog brings it back!" written on it £2.50, genius.

Sold loads of Swedish candles as "fenmans fires" for £6 a pop wholesale for 18" ones. Take more than a few seconds to make tho and am gonna start using old McConnell saw bench when I've rebuilt the lister😄ImageUploadedByArbtalk1420110429.301740.jpg.a4d28b7fb5bd2ff6c611fe5e99281636.jpg

I have only ever made them for my own use, really should try some in our farm shop. Logs don't sell at all there though.

Usually make them with a chainsaw but made a dozen or so last time I had the sawbench fired up. Loads quicker!
