We have a U1200 with the original springs. I know Atkinson do a heavy duty replacement. Has anyone fitted these and has it made much difference. We carry our processor around a fair bit and she sits down a fair way before it gets airborne!

Many thanks

Jay

Use standard springs! If you fit the heavy duty ones, the load sensor doesn't work the brakes and you don't stop very well from what I've heard.

The standard ones will handle what the Mog is capable of imo

Hi I had a u1200 and fitted the vos springs and it made a massive difference better in every way they were well worth it in the 4 years i ran it we never had a problem

get the heavy duty ones, and find out if you have the agri lift kit fitted, (discs around an inch thick fitted to the springs, and a bracket extending the shocks), you can reset the load sensor , the measurements are in the workshop manual, also do you have an anti roll bar fitted, this stiffens the rear up as well

We had heavy duty springs (one inside another) on a 1600 and the brakes worked fine and in my opinion much better than the standard ones

These sound like the genuine Merc springs, not the vos ones.

As Stevie says the vos ones do not taper, so there is no graduation in the flex of the springs. When the mog is only slightly loaded the thiner tapered ends of the springs flex, this adjusts the brake sensor increasing brake power.

The HD ones vos sell have no taper, so you need a lot of weight on before the brakes are adjusted, this could be dangerous, as you may find that the brakes are not as responsive as they should be.

The vos HD springs are ideal for a permanently loaded mog carrying fixed heavy equipment, but not really for dealing with occasional heavy loads.

Those two posts cover everything you need to consider. The load sensor can be adjusted, but it's the lack of progression in the Vos springs that cause the issue. You can get a lot of weight on there before you get any change in the braking, and that's far from ideal
