Edible Chestnuts

Think that's right? Someone please corrected if I've got them the wrong way round!

Yep that's right . Sweet chestnut edible ( very prickly husk ) Horse chestnut ( conker . smoother husk ) is a NO NO .

Another no no is cooking them in the microwave:lol: A family member, who remain nameless but is an arborist, thought it was a good idea.

My old Mum ( long since gone ) used to make cream of chestnut soup at Christmas . Absolutely scrumptious ! :001_smile:

Did he tell them how to play conkers with the ones they had collected ? Shame to waste all their efforts. A couple of years ago we went to walk round a local house and garden open to the public and were surprised to see sweet chestnuts all over the lawn. I filled my pockets and a few other receptacles. People were looking at me gone out but I was quite happy to let them. There is a tree in a local wood that bears fruit but the squirrels always get there first.
