No the op is correct in what he's trying to achieve, if we all took the opinions of why bother then why do we bother doing the checks and paperwork, waiting 8 weeks to get on with the job etc. Then why bother having tpo's at all or even conservation areas? Might as well just do what we like when we like? I've priced jobs in con areas then driven past a week later and it's been done, spoke to clients and my price was lower but the 2nd contractors (if you can call them that) had a special exception so could do the work the next day which is what they wanted :what::what:

So did these "contractors" do the job without permission?

I can never get my head around some peoples attitude towards "grassing" on someone who has done something wrong! :confused1:

Ok maybe in this instance, some trees that should have been protected may have been felled by some cowboys. The authorities cannot stay on top of situations like this unless they are informed that something is going on. The worst possible outcome is that some maverick outfit gets a fine but the perception from the general public is that ALL tree surgeons are a bunch of cowboys.............!

A dodgy untrained unlicensed gas fitter installs a boiler, a week later carbon monoxide poisoning kills a family whilst they slept in their beds, or a gas leaks blows up a row of house. But, hey he tried his best lets not "grass" on him eh, his next job might be better!

You see a bloke you know raping someone in an alleyway. No need to "grass" them up because his victim isn't anyone you know. And they probably won't do it again now they've got it out of there system. Eh?

You've just had you're yard raided, they've stolen all your kit. A mate of yours knows whose done it, but you don't expect him to grass up the thieving scum bags....... DO YOU?!?

Ok, ok, its only TPO'd (maybe, maybe not) trees, but if everyone turns a blind eye, then we have anarchy and everything and everyone is fair game and screw the consequences if it doesn't affect you directly!

People who are not prepared to stand up and be counted and report wrong doing when they see it are spineless IMHO.

Maybe the OP is more interested in protected trees and their survival for future generations than in treeworkers making a buck.

(apparently some people are) :001_smile:

It's not a case of that, I care about trees and don't think people should get away with doing that but sticking your nose in and grassing is petty imo. If he wants to grass on folk then crack in but it's not something I would do. I worry about what I do not have hat others do!

I guess you spend your evening and weekends photographing litterers and those parked on double yellows?????????:001_rolleyes:

Really, you compare rape with felling a TPO'd tree?? possibly without those responsible even know what they have done.

I know, you've got to laugh.

As an aside I doubt very much if 6 mature limes could be felled in any town without the TO knowing about it.

Are TPO's even fair or moral????? What gives others the right to enforce tree ownership on anyone??? possibly a tree you planted, you grew it for fuel and some do gooder comes along and affectively steals your fuel and makes you responsible for the up keep of a large tree!!!!
