I take the same view if I buy a stihl new fron london and I was working in cambridge for the week it broke and I take it to the local stihl dealer in cambridge I suspect them to do the warranty work same thong if I bought a new truck from new if it went wrong where ever I was I would be in titled to have it fixed buy the nearest dealer to me

How does that stand legally??

One dealer is like another, I can take my Aston (I wish) to any dealer for warranty work.

If its a warranty issue any dealer should be able to deal with it.

That's what I thought, until I went into my local dealer with a saw I'd bought somewhere else.

I would want them to fix it or show chapter and verse on why they didn't have to

Yes they should be capable... but will they be willing to do so? My view is that a dealer who refuses to carry out warranty work, is cutting their nose off to spite their face.

I agree. But if they wanted to refuse and not have a come-back. Could just say they had too much work on. Fiat dealer in Colchester used to use just such an excuse. But the then manager, was a miserable soul at the best of times.

Here's my take.

What can you save by going further away/online, 50 quid ? Maybe more.

How much can you charge for a days tree surgery.500 quid?

If you buy locally then when you're in a pinch they'll fix it on the spot or give you a loaner to get the job done, and put the bill in.

Go local, it pays in the end.

It bloody doesn't. Spent £4k in three months with my local dealer, one problem with a mower recoil and it's like talking to a brick wall. Incompetent muppets.

Now FR Jones get my business, and they still send me the wrong bits :001_rolleyes:
