No mate, the spacer is only needed when textiles such as rope slings ect are being placed into the holes, the spacer stops the side cheeks being quashed together. And it's ok that's what we are all here for mate :)

Yeah exact same as DdRT. You've just got a knot in your rope halfway through pulling it out.

Cheers man. Awesome thread, I've used a top tie-in a couple times recently and I've noticed the friction on retrieval of a bowline with a long tail.

No worries. I find it retrieves well in narrow ropes. When I have used it with tachyon you notice a bit of friction. It retrieves well even thought from force of habit it tend to descent and leave the tree on a similar route to the retrieval end.

You can set it in from the ground and with a little practice you do get a good eye in to how much rope you need to pull through. Although it's much better and quicker to base tie then set it in after you reach your tie in point. Best thing about is after its on you can leave the termination end where it is, no need to pull it down the same route as your descent route :) same as redirects. All you have to do is remove your hitch system and pull down on the retrieval side :) jobs a good'n

Remove your hitch system?

Tits.

When I've got my VT set right I like to leave it on.

For months, sometimes.

I'm actually not joking.

Haha exactly the same here. I ran out of rope 2' from the ground the other day, undid my stopper knot and let the rope run through the hitch. Afterwards I was really annoyed. It's light someone nudging your rest view mirror, you'll never get it back the same.
