And thou art dead, as young and fair

Horse Chestnut with terminal Armillaria attack.

Tree was in vascular decline and had shed a number of limbs in the last couple of years.

Apart from the tell tale rhizamorphs behind the bark, we found mycelium under sound bark, 25ft up the trunk.

Tree also had a worryingly deep included trunk split.

The area was a retreat for poets & writers from the mid 1700's on.

Byron, Shelly and D H Lawrence resided here, to name but a few.

(Title acceptable enough for ya, Peter? )

Weight leaning back toward 17th century cottages, dysfunctional/decaying trunk.

I no takey chancey.

Speed is never ever an issue for me.

Systematic reduction/dismantle then fell, is my prefered modus operendi.

It works for my team.

Plus the fact that the fell zone is acid grassland with Tube web spider - atypus affinis in situe.
