Has taken ages to get the next Sugi order done - so still are 4 months away... (for the T540XP)

But when they are in there will be:

Pro lam - 12",14" and 16" 1/4" pitch

Pro lam - 12",14" and 16" 3/8 lo pro

Light type 12",14" and 16" 3/8 lo pro

There are a few people who use 16" bars on a top handle - in fact Reg wanted a 16" for his 200t! But only had 14" at the time...

:001_smile:

Great news .... Should get 4 months out of the stock techlite bar..

Reg Coates has a 540xp with a sugihara bar review video on you tube...

Unless my memory is completely shot.........

No problems with your memory.

(edit: correct video)

As the subject says, anyone recommend a good 16" bar for this saw? When I say good I mean balance, longevity etc. Don't want another husky bar as just noticed it has a slight bend. Never been used to lever anything etc. Thinking sugihara but not sure if there is one to fit? Thanks

Use a 14" as the saw was built for, the Oregon 140SPEA095 will serve you well and use 91VXL052E chain or if you prefer a guarded chain then you can use the shorter cutter version 91PX052E

Don't confuse these bars with the domestic SD type which are not suitable for higher output top handle saws

I think stubby is right. The sugihara is on the old Stihl.

That's a husky bar on the 540xp.

:)

And its a Techshite bar so it will fall in half before it wears out !

Why such a big bar on a top handle saw?

Never had anything bigger on my 200's than 12 inches but since I changed over to Husqy I use their battery saw for pruning with a 12 inch bar and on the 540 a 16 inch bar. Why? It's for takedowns only and because the saw copes fine while buried in oak and elm.

Thanks for the advice but I want a 16" bar not 14" bar and chain recommendations. I'm aware some people think it's too big, but many people also only use a 16" bar on them. We all have different ideas about what works for us otherwise we'd all have identical gear.
