Yes ive had it happen,and it does hack me off,but there we are,not an awful lot you can do,sooner or later it'll happen again,just put it behind you and carry on mate.

I do this, I send a letter to the applications that haven't used an agent e.g the householder has done the application!

Not something I do, but to be fair if you get building planning granted it's normal for builders and suppliers to offer a quote, no real difference, but you should get paid for your time/efforts.

I have no interest with being friends with my competitors, it's my reputation with clients I care about, not other tree firms.

I'll have a quick chat at the petrol station, admire (or laugh at) their gear.

I have a few that I sub for/they sub for me. We rub along ok.

We often quote the same jobs, I've even hired guys to help me on jobs they've quoted themselves (and vice versa)
