With a heavy heart I write this post. Wal passed away this evening after fighting very bravely for the last two weeks.

Thank you all for your messages, he enjoyed reading them and they bought a smile to his face.

His passing in the end was a release from his suffering and his battle to live.

He will be greatly missed.

R.I.P Wal

Sorry to hear this, Andy. I never knew the guy but he was obviously highly thought of by many.

RIP Wally. I first met him back in the early 80s as part of the Suffolk trust for Nature Conservstion training team, a lifetime ago now. A great instructor, mentor and an inspiration. One of the people who made my life all the richer, and a pleasure to have known, albeit some time ago. Condolences to all those far closer than I.

I was lucky enough to have met Wally some 10 years ago whilst working for Andy and his knowledge and patience whilst training myself and many other aspiring arborists was something I will remember fondly

My thoughts are with Wally, Sylvia and his many friends and colleagues
