110 Tipper.

Anyone got one?

 

One of our land rovers was rolled recently, insurance wise its a total loss, but the chassis and running gear are perfect (it was flipped by a trailer straight onto its roof). So I am now thinking or converting it into a tipper, the crew that use it have a tracked chipper and actually take very little chip home so I am thinking it may be quite useful. That said the tipper must be pretty small on a 110? anyone got one and can give me the cubic capacity? a few pics would be handy too.

 

Any other experiences to share? tool storage, handling roof racks etc.

 

I will be planning on uprating the springs, to take the weight.. Can you overload a 110 tipper or is it too small, she's currently plated at 3050kg, empty she'll be about 2 ton, can you fit a ton of chip in it? I have my doubts, but it could always be uprated if necessary......

Mine weighs 2 empty. Double springs at rear. With a tonne of chip carries it well. At 2 tonne (not that I've gone it honest) is on its limit and rolls alot. Holds about 4 cube of chip.

4 Cube is a lot more than I thought, what are the dimensions of it? does it overhang the rear crossmember by much? How about tool storage?

I will measure the size of the box when I eventually get to work. Might even post a pic or two

If you have ran it as a van turning it into a tipper may not be agood idea as kit storage will be low unless you put a big tool locker up front which will cut load capacity down more.

You can have it re-plated as 3.5t....most of the utilities 110's start of at 3t and then modified to 3.5t....you can even go 130...as 130's are actually 110's that are then modified by Landrover modification centre....140 etc etc....

Il take some pictures of mine when the boys get back to the yard later tom. Mine weighs about 2ton empty. I've tool storage down the side of the chip box as well as a roof rack for climbing kits etc

I can't say that picture fills me with much confidence of Landrovers ROP system, being a van back would of helped but dread to think if that had been a truck cab:thumbdown: How did it happen, did the trailer tip first taking the landy with it?
