Some times I seal the meat buy just browning the outside in a pan for a few seconds but you dont have to . Just make sure its covered with whatever sauce , put it on low when you go out in the morning and its ready any time when you come in in the evening .

If you can get it either ox cheek or ox tail, loads of veg, the woman puts it in the slow cooker on low for the day. Then teatime put some suet dumplings in the pot for the last 20 mins or so and if youre in the mind to do some mash pots, and a couple of slices of thick bread to mop up the gravy mmmmmm!!!

 

Rabbit in a stew works just as well

Chilli con carne with cuts of beef, not mince. 2-3 days in the slow cooker of the rayburn and the meat just falls apart!

 

Also, Spanish pork. From memory, brown some cheap cuts of pork, no bone, then into the pot, a little water, lots of paprika, and half a bottle of Madeira??

 

Needs a good few hours, but it melts!

hmmmmm nice like the sound of shin beef slow cooked

 

meanwhile just looked up campfire stew dont fancy that 2 tins beans a large onion 3 cloves garlic 2 large peppers and a tablespoon of paprika half a teaspoon of chillie powder and a full joint of gammon >>>> has anyone had this looks like scrapings off a full english in the picture i looked at
