Mine are metal, when they get bent or ripped open from a blowout like last week just kick or weld them back into shape

i took my last small trailer to a blacksmith and had metal mudgaurds made up with rod connecting then to body as well. i am heavy and could stand on no bother. well worth the cost.

people sitting on the wheel arches or the hopper reallllllly annoys me.

almost as much as people leaning against the flexible arches over the wheels of the landy - which subsequently bend (slightly) inwards.

 

next time someone does it sit on the bonnet of their car, cross legged to eat your lunch.

if the hoppers arent made strong enough to sit on, theres something wrong with how its been made. I know ours take a pounding
