This is the first winter i have started splitting logs up and selling them. They are sold in IBC cages that are stacked full, all are below 20%. The few people that have bought them are happy with the size and quality however i am having a hard time moving anymore, most people selling logs seem to be selling half empty bags of crappy unseasoned wood for £30! how do you compete with that.

You sit back and wait. They will run out or people will realise they are selling crap. Logs are not the game to get into if you need your money in a hurry, I'm afraid. :001_smile:

Felix is dead right . There is a saying that I cant remember now ...something about selling the unprofitable to the ungrateful .... Someone will come up with it in a mo I am sure . Stick to your guns ..

No quick return in selling logs am afraid and if you start undercutting other log suppliers you will be processing and working for a very small return. To make money selling logs you have to be a stablished, sell very good quality logs and have plenty stored in a yearly rotation, big yard required for that. ( that's why I don't touch them)

it doesnt help every man and his dog think they can start up a log business on the side for a bit of cash & the public like nothing more than a bargain, so they will always try the cheap loads even though deep down they have a pretty good idea they will get garbage,it seems they just cant resist trying it.
