I bought my first climbing helmet over a year ago

my helmet came with sordin exe ear defenders 25snr (pic below)

and was told a couple of months back by an guy who said that my ear defenders where the wrong type and were not protective enough?

i had no idea what he meant at the time and he recommended that i buy more expensive ones to use and for especially using loud machinery like chippers , stump grinders etc.

i have no idea what 'snr' means and i have never had a problem with my ear defenders and think they are well protective and if they were not any good then why would the dealer sell them?

so wanted to know what ear defenders you guys have on your helmets and if there is alot of difference between the types ? , and if it is worth buying some more expensive ones?

The type of ear defence you are currently using are perfectly fine for c/saw use.

If however you find you are stuck at the hopper end of the chip breathing dragon for 8 hours a day they are not. You need to upgrade your muffs, sordid MSA with the red band!

Also you probably could do with changing the inserts on your ear defence as well, you can buy replacements. I do mine every year....

Hope this helps!

I tried the left/right defenders a while back but never felt they fitted as well as these, I also wash the sponge bit ever few weeks by sticking them in my chainsaw trousers pocket and washing the lot.

Haha remember u wearing them!!
