I recently had to run my mates Fastrack and flail into the tm zone on the M25 with the artic because he was not allowed to drive it there. It was less that 1 mile but it was a firm no.

guess it depends on the police suppose all you can do is put in a request, damned unreasonable really when a cat 3 load can only do 40 on motorway, yet a fastrack is denied for one mile! sigh probably a lot to do with agricultural tractor still meaning likes of a wee grey fergy to the pen pushers :001_rolleyes:

Fasttrac isn't homologated as a hgv, a unimog is, whether it's ago registered or not it is built to a standard that the fastback isn't.

As a rule of thumb you shouldn't take an ag registered vehicle on the motorway due tot all the other aspects of the ag classification that is really very grey, like distance from yard are you doing farming or forestry etc etc. however many people do and do/ have got away with it, it is really down to who stops you and what they know or think they know

We got stopped in a town with 3pt linkage winch on front and chipper on back and the copper said he would prefer us on the motorway and not in the town if we could get home that way!

The bottom line here is the term Agricultural vehicle/tractor. Once you have elected to register the thing as this you are bound by the rules. The law is quite clear on this and there have been no test cases brought before the High court to overturn it, until then no precedence has been set and nor is it likely. Vosa have dozens of Mogs a year that go through a plating for those wanting to use them commercially and they have to run as a commercial operator, which also means white diesel and paying for the road tax.

"

Have a read about this chap that got stopped on an "A" road with an ag registered mog. If Vosa could have proved non ag use he would have been done. There is a very fine line between commercial hire & reward and the Arb industry.

That made me laugh, he pointed out the "Mercedies AG on the vehicle".

I don't know how you could get more stupid than that. The AG stands for Aktiengesellschaft which in Enlish means PLC. It has nothing whatever to do with the vehicle specification.

If the Germans were to use initials for AG in the same way we do I would hazard a guess that they would use AW for Agrar Wirtschaft

The name unimog is one of these nice German composites, it's UNI as in universal, MO as in Motorised and G as in Gerät which means impliment (in this sense)

So as a universal motorised impliment it can be either a truck or a tractor
