AA approval . is it worth it ??

I think you will find that they shouldnt discriminate against non AA approved contractors by law.

 

I discussed this the other day apparently it can be specified contractors are AAAC's in order to be considered

Two things.

 

It is a great thing to be AA approved for bigger firms, councils etc. Domestic customers simply don't care.

 

Two firms I know are AA approved, but entertain insane free climbing, saws with chain brakes removed lubricated with waste oil from garages and permanently stoned ground staff.

 

The approval scheme could be great, but we have a long way to go IMO. Starting with public awareness.

i will second that mark , i cant see the point of having an approved contractors scheme when the generall public are not aware of it . is this something that the AA could improve on ??

I guess those problems arise when a firm wins a big contract then needs to employ a load of halfwits to get it done.

 

Its tricky, if you stay small you can control quality of work but will you ever earn enough to back survive right through to 65? If you develop your business bigger it must get harder to keep on top of those things. Perhaps some just give up on quality and get greedy for the cash.

see im a firm believer in quality, the money will come naturally , bit like the job i am currently doing , i was reccomended over severall larger companies because of the standard of our work and the fact that the boss is out on site working and makes sure the work is done on time and to standard . thats where becoming a bigger compamy becomes harder , either you have guys you can trust and it works or guys that you cant trust and you lose your reputation .

Yes it is a little depressing when you bust a gut and go the extra mile, but they are oblivious, but at least we sleep well in our beds

but in reality its he who charges the least , does what ever the client asks even at all cots to the tree winns , it really pi sses me right off , how can a bloke with a nisan cabstar just about got his basic climbing and some ropey saws oh and no chipper be allowed to compete on works for housing associations etc , just goes to show its not what you know or how well you do the job it more a case of csn you do it for 50% less than the reall arborists if so you have got it .
