A little bit off topic but I had some head scratching and a bit of fun making this for my little one. It's Mont Pine and I've got heaps of it to get through, big, long, straight round stems and some really interesting angled limbs. Everyone who's seen it says "you could sell that!" and I guess it's possible but the time & labour of making this far exceed the price I could make on it. That's fine for this one in my garden, and I enjoyed just tinkering. I guess if I made a pattern, prep'd a batch of timber and bought in fixings in bulk I could get a unit cost but can't see it being a big market place. Might give it a punt at some point

Excellent work guys, threads like this are only going to make me spend what I don't yet have lol. I've been good this year, I'm trying to find somewhere locally to store my wood and work on it.... when I do, I shall be buying an 880 and speaking with Rob a lot I think :-)

Got some of the hair pin legs - looked good, very easy to fix - but bit of a pain as had to sprayed.... would be good in chrome or pre sprayed in black I think.

:001_smile:

Got some of those legs coming this week for an elm burr coffee table, will post up my thoughts when they eventually get here

Here are some close-ups, like I say, I made it up as I went along and kind of made it work with the materials I had to hand so there may well be better methods:

Just found the thread again - thanks for these, I think I need to find some nice larch.

I find the whole thread fascinating and inspirational! Got a blank week week after next, going to spend a week milling, got the Alaskan ready, got a new granberg vertical mini mill, got a box full of new chains today (thank you Rob!), can't wait !
