Isn't it a common fault on these ?.

I bought one a couple of weeks ago, first thing I checked was chain oil being pumped out, also think I read on another thread with everything being so small they are fussy about oiling properly if you use thick oil.

Stihl synthplus fully synthetic chain oil was recommended as it is quite thin

Yes my first 150 did it all the time once a day I would have to wash the tank with petrol and spin it up untill it started coming through.

It seemed to solve it self in the end....

Had exactly the same problem and posted it here. Sent it back to supplier who drained the Oregon oil and refilled it with Stihl Synthplus which did the trick...it's now using about 2/3 of a tank of oil to a tank of fuel (but you need to work it at max revs) and will probably use more as it beds in. The Oregon oil I use works fine in all my other saws but not the MS150 which is a bit of a pain but there it is. I'm happy with the saw apart from this little foible.

Interesting thread this I use bio oil because of the sites I work on, and I have had problems with oil not flowing out correctly on the 150. Looks like I will have to use oil specific for this saw. Not a problem just good to find this one out.

I found mine has had no problems oiling like described. After about a year old it stopped oiling and a few flushes of the tank seems to have dislodged whatever crud was in the tank/filter.

Been working like a dream since then.

Edit: is that Huw?
