A gardener friend of mine recently fell out of a conifer hedge he was trimming and bust his ankle! Was close to having it amputated so now he will pass on hedges, he was going at £5 a metre, obviously if it was a well overgrown one then he would add more. I am now taking on his hedges and will stay harnessed in.

Is that £5/metre for hedges that could be done from standing or does it include the hedges that you have to get into???

Prima Dona's if you think you can get the same for trimming as you get for climbing. Like I said in my first post 'It aint as dangerous as climbing'.

You make it sound as if we are mercenary assasins looking for extra danger money.

The way I do it topping conifers is significantly more dangerous (personal injury) than climbing 'proper' trees, however that is beside the point. You give a service and they pay what you ask, it is simple.

Accountants dont get danger money, well some do:sneaky2:! They are paid because of their expertise, it has nothing to do with a continued exposure to papercuts.

BTW I charge (and get) the same money for hedge cutting as I do treework.

Oh and could you define "true value" as you seem to have all the answers? As far as I am concerned your value is what someone is willing to pay.
