This looks nuts!

Realy?

All that expensive kit to make billets that will still need logging and loading later when with one machine you could have made the logs in one hit. That wood looks perfect processor sized stuff.

I think billets only make sense if you have oversize stuff or a lot of cheap labour to help with the extra handling.

Edit. Or if you are keeping it simple and cheepish

That's what I mean by nuts - mad rather than the mutts nuts! A whole lot of money for that I would imagine vs the productivity and amount of handling required!

I always thought circular saws were thinner than bar & chain, I guess the bigger blades need to be thicker but half an inch?

Another firewood merchant forestry contractor had a demo and the first thing he said was that the saw blades are such a big diameter that they have to be really thick. When your doing big diameter timber that's a lot of wood to loose. The other thing he noticed is that as we do short logs they never land properly in the splitting chamber. The other obvious one is cost it's a lot of money to get back.

I have to say so far my 360 has been a joy to use, must have cut a good 100T (a lot of it quite small stuff and not so straight) or so in the last month or so since I have had it and blade still cutting fine. Only thing is with very bendy bits of wood you have to be careful, I have already got blade stuck a few times when the log has moved whilst cutting! Apart from that it is a joy to use with log deck. Also whilst it cuts 35 wide, if the log has height of up to around 45 cm, it will fit through, which is quite handy. That Pinossa looks amazing I like the way it cuts and hold the timber.

This was close to me for a friend who is also a competitor, think he is registered here,

A cube in three and a half minutes, pretty impressive,

A

We could not match three & half minutes but did do 5 with 10 inch logs and 8 way knife. Would not want to do it like that all week. Still it's a lot easier to use than the Farmi .

Why did you go for a 360 not a 400?
