Armour plated nests !!

Came across this magpies nest today, never seen owt like it in my chuff !

 

The nest was mainly made from stainless steel cavity wall ties and green chainlink fencing, imagine that going through the chipper ?

 

Look at it carefully and you'll see the metal work. The more you look the more metal work you'll pick out.

 

One of the peices of chainlink was 2ft long, how the bird flew with that in its gob is amazing.

 

This Magpie must have heard it was me doing the hedge and been shot at by me before :sneaky2:

I remember taking about 6 leylandii out that was right next to a construction site, everyone had nests in that must have been 90% cavity wall ties like the ones in your photo. There would have been a good half a van load of steel if we had bothered to take it away :sneaky2:

 

Destroyed a good set of chipper blades that day though
