Have recently taken on the stalking in a local wood and have been out twice this week.. The freezer will be full for a wee while now.

Can you pop them with .22LR? Might be abit more efficient sneeking in close and dropping them with neck/head shots.

Totally illegal here to use anything less than .243

North of the border you can use a .22 center fire i.e. 22-250, 223, 222 etc on Roe. Minimum 50 grain bullet if i remember correctly.

I cant understand why they dont allow 22-250 here, i wouldn't like to be shot anywhere with one and a neck shot would be devastating

 

I've shot foxes at 100 yards with RF HV and they pass straight through leaving a quite large exit, a head or neck shot would drop a deer no problem.

 

They just go for .243 to compenste for crap shooting

er south of the border you can use .22 centerfires on munti's and roe now as well from last september as i have a .223 for munti's

Yeah, totally illegal to use a .22 RF on deer, but as said above the .22 centrefire calibres are legal.

Rifle pictured is a .270 BSA shooting 130gn normas.

It is way over-kill for roe, but I shoot well with the rifle.

I prefer head/neck shots for deer, but when theyre in woodland, I generally go for the shoulder shot as it tends to drop them where they stand and I can find them easily - does waste a bit of meat though.

 

I'm taking my CZ 550 .243 to get cut and threaded ready for a sound mod shortly, will be better for the roe, and nice and quiet.
