timberwolf shredder

Has anyone got experience of the large timberwolf shredder? the TW S426TDHB.

not thinking of using it for treework, but for dealing with hedgecuttings, small stumps and wood waste, especially fencing

Having great difficulties round here getting rid of mixed waste. I took some hedge cuttings and fencing to the transfer station and they refused it as it had hedgecuttings in it. the other place wouldnt take it as the fence had ivy on it, and the greenwaste site would not take it as it had fencing in it. I cannot help thinking if it was shredded up and mixed, how would they know it was once fencing??

Trying to find somewhere that would take it for biomass, but its proving difficult.

I can see why people have burn sites now!!

I saw the demo of it at the 2 APFs ago. Did what it said on the tin but you could tell by the chip that it was shredded rather than chipped. The sales man was keen to tell me that builders where buying them to shred stuff into skips to save themselves money on house referbs.

Green plant in Hemel hire one and are timberwolf dealers so you could get a demo one for a day for free:thumbup:

i have given up on greenplant. been trying to hire a stump grinder from them for the past month, and they keep saying they have one at guildford if i want to collect it. Bit pointless advertising a branch in hemel that has nothing to hire!!

might try them again if they have one though

I owned one for a very short time alongside my chipper. green waste it just got clogged up, never felt like it had enough air pressure in the shoot to cope with it. If you fed it through really slow and minimal amounts it was ok, but hedge cuttings still looked like hedge cuttings. Branches again just chocked it up. Logs where ok but slow.

I did also throw some pretty hefty wood waste through it with all sorts of fixtures and fittings on which it totally destroyed!!!

Doesn't fire very far out of the discharge shoot either

I hired a tracked S426TDHB from KSS Hire (based in essex). Had it for three days to deal with some knarly brash mixed with fence posts that had been ripped out and piled up a few months back by a gm contractor. It was mess full of nails and bits of fencing wire so I opted for a shredder.

First impressions was they are bigger and heavier than the chipper alternative. It coped pretty well on most stuff but as clearview said, they do clog with some green waste a bit. I put some willow through it and it jamming the infeed. The more flexible the material the worse the shredder performed. I would imagine if you put anything palm like or long grasses you'd feck it big time. On wood waste (fence posts, rails, etc) it just ate it up. Big chunks of hinge, bolts, remnants of concrete foot didn't phase it.
