Speaking to alot of my farmer friends recently, they all believe we shall be having a bad winter, cold and snow - from their thoughts that we had a good harvest that there are lots of berries etc about.

any body else think so??

Every year I hear predictions of bad winters from farmers, foresters, weather forecasters, etc, etc..... I think some people just like to predict doom, despair and disaster.

Some winters turn out bad, some not so bad; I've yet to hear of a reliable way of telling - whether its berries, a good harvest, a wet spring, solar flares or whatever.

We'll have to wait and see what this winter brings.

Well if its like the winters we've been having for the last 5 years, it will be an extreme of something, rain, wind, cold or snow. Probably wont be able to tell until its actually happening, even then the forecast will be wrong.

But as a log seller I predict a long, cold and snowy winter so start buying your logs now

I've read a few articles over the years about a guy who measures solar activity (think that's what it was), he allegedly had a good forecasting record way ahead of met office for example. It'll come back to me who he was and what he did

Law of averages say were due a bad one

:confused1: How do you work that out??? Of the last 5, 4 were very hard, 1 was very mild, so by the law of averages we a due another mild one.

You can see where I live from my profile, unlike yourself.

Of cause I'm talking relatively, but yes the 4 before the last one were much colder than any for the previous 30years, hence the death of so many eucalyptus, many of which were 30 years old.
