Surely if you can't tension the chain should you be using a power saw!! Put the saw in the shed and use an axe!:001_tt2:

 

Right I got the axe out the shed and the head is a bit loose, how do I check how tight it should be ?

I've got no idea how to check an axe!! I just use the power saw:thumbup:

If it falls off, it's not tight enough

If it stays on you risk it being too tight though...

No matter how i tension my chain it sags after 1 cut.Touch the chain and its warm so cant be because of heat and yes saw is switched off before any comments.After a minute its right again.

Just tighten the chain so it doesnt sag (big nasty bars excepted)but can be easy moved.

 

I prefer a tighter chain on top handle saws as I want the chain to stop spinning fairly quickly when I release the trigger.

 

If your chain is always slackening off then check that its getting some oil.

 

TBH its not rocket science, if it looks OK then it probably is.
