This is a good site: Make your own biodiesel: Journey to Forever

If your running it on straight, you might need to heat the bio fuel up before it goes into the engine as it can be too thick in cold weather, and run diesel through the system so it starts on diesel as it may struggle to start in cold weather.

I've got a friend who has converted his L200 and has a system that runs pritty well.

I was thinking that it would be nice if it was cheaper than diesel but was more thinking it will be better than breathing in diesel fumes when using the chipper.

Since the exhaust points towards the van the fumes can bounce back and you end up breathing it in.

Oh and it will be better for the environment too :001_cool:

ive known of 3 people to use bio diesel, one used it in both (newish) cars, and his old vw tipper, seemed to run fine for over a year, then both cars started playing up, after residue build up all over the engines, cost a fortune to put right, only the old vw ran ok, prob due to simpler engine design

personally id stay away

I did a lot of research in to this last year and even built my own processor, it's fairly easy to make but is a bit more involved than what people think more so if using used oil but it can be done at home. the older non TDI engines run better on it as there not as highly strung as the moden engines. To be honest if you want to save a few pennies buy 20lt drums of new cheap cooking oil and pour it into the tank 70/30 with diesel and it will run ok.
