Thanks for this.... Do you think that time spent on a ZZ would prepare me for a SJ? Bearing in mind I've only been climbing for about 12 months.

 

I'm enjoying the HC right now having progressed from Blake's to prussic to HC...

 

I'd been climbing for a grand total of 4 months when I got a spiderjack, so basically learnt to climb on one. If it's what you fancy just get one, nothing will prepare you for using levers in a tree. It does take a bit of getting used to but ultimately I think it's pretty intuitive.

I believe the warrantee is against defective materials, IE cracking, it would be unreasonable for general wear and tear to be be covered.

 

Bit of wishful thinking on my part then:laugh1:

 

Although the waranty is good, for the consumer, I think their provision of it is going to bite them in the ass. They've used it to promote their confidence in the product but can you imagine the returns in the future.

 

Simple metal fatigue with daily use, has to become a factor over time so IMO a lot of these will fail within the warrenty period. Good for the user, but bad for the company when every problem gets highlighted on threads like these.

I'm using a mark one and it still in great shape.

Be that as it may they kind of had to extend the warranty on these units because the only alternative would have been a second recall, which would have been a catastrophe.

 

Extended warranty bad, recall worse.
