Sharpening chipper blades

If attempting this yourself !!!

Bear in mind the speed these spin round at going pass an anvil with about 2mm clearance ....

You sharpen your blades on the bench and one is ground at a slightly different angle resulting in one being longer than the other 2mm isn't much of a gap!

If as they should be the blades are sharpened as sets at the same time same angle Ect then they will perform better and last longer..

We offer blade sharpening service and if required we can do it via post

Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!

Hello

does anyone know what sort of grinding wheel I should be using to sharpen my timberwolf chipper blades. As they are hardened steel I need 1 that will grind them but not take the tempo out.

Does anyone do there own??

We do our own on a converted mower blade grinder, its got coolant running on the blades as it grinds and it does them in pairs so they stay the same weight.

Bob

how long do they last before they need doing again. with hollow grinding as i used to do it is it has to be flooded with water to keep blade cool. plus its a stone that grinds but polishes at same time. angle grinder you can not get the hollow action needed for it to cut you can do it but will not cut the same and when they do need doing will take a lot of metal off to get them hollow again. for £58 work out how much a day thats costing you to have them done bet its pence.
