Lots of people slate the stihl 261, but I am on my third and find the reliability of the thing amazing. Not one problem, not one break down at all, other than the usuall plugs sprockets etc. They even kept going long after I would have expected to have to retire them. Had my current one 4 months and even find the auto tune thing reliable as I had my doubts.

Likewise I had one that was a rocket, lovely little thing. Hated the 346xp. Dolmar 5105 obliterates the 550xp on torque...

One of the lads had one that did 2 months before the crank bearings started to go....

Then after 4 months my 550s carb went so swings and roundabouts really.

I've never really been a fan of the 026 260 or 261 and i'm pretty sure the MS 262 and i wont get along.

I want to get a Dolmar next....

The old Stihl 031 (series 1113) beats any other 50cc on torque, still doesn't mean it's better in the woods

Bulky, heavy and an inboard clutch - no thanks!

OK, it depends on what the alternatives are of course, but the 560xp obviously are a much better choise. :001_smile:

so you did'nt like the feel of the PS-6100 then how about the way it performed cutting tree's did'nt you find the torque amazing for a 60cc saw and the fuel economy brilliant

inboard clutches everytime for me keep the brake band and clutch in against the saw body. and keep the chain and chips outside away from the saw

Quicker snedding.

It's true. I can sned a 20 year old cedar twice as fast with a 394xp than with a 362.
