True either way, although there is always the satisfaction in making your own or even improving/customizing your own set-up.

 

 

 

I'm trying to think of my own design and was toying with the idea of making a foot loop which stays permanently on my foot which i can clip a more compact haas system too for ease of storage on my harness, as now i'm older clutter on my harness is annoying and so is to much kit.

 

 

Mike at treekit stitched me and a couple of others a loop that stays on your boot permenantly which you clip in and out of

For a pure ascent technique I'd say no, although the haas is just another type of rope walker system that has been around a very long time.

I find it to be better than the hand ascender foot loop option. I can move much more quickly when I want to.

I second that. Also the fact that there is no ascenders above the hitch can only be good.

I personally never got along well with it, tried it out years ago but being so used to footloop/pantin/croll it was just more hassle, and in that setup less safe. If used with a rw I can imagine it being nice, though I can't really say...

Well worth it IMO, homemade or bought.

It's a weird sensation for me not blowing through my arse with jelly arms after a long ascent!

thanks for replys to my question, one more is it using a chest assender? hope so as just borrowed one to try and knock up a quick version to see if i like it.
