What spool valve for log splitter?

Half way through building my splitter and wondering what sort of spool valve to fit, it's running off a petrol power pack, also when the power pack is running and I engage the pump it stalls, I'm assuming when it's piped in this won't happen ?or is it knackered? Ta

I would imagine because there's no flow it stalls. Bit like lifting the clutch in a car too quick maybe.

If the pump is blanked it will stall the engine

 

You need an open centre valve, make sure its big enough for the flow on the pump

If the pump is blanked it will stall the engine

I would fit one of these

Monoblock Hydraulic Control Valve 1/2in 1 Bank DA Flow capacity 60l/m Max pressure 4410 PSI 250 BAR fitted with pressure relief valve. Port markings P= Inlet, T= Outlet. 1/2 1 Bank DA. £58+vat

 

This valve block has an internal relief valve fitted which is adjustable

 

 

Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
