Had a lense cracked the other day at work and i myself cracked one a Few weeks previous :blushing:

Just wondering if it would be good to convert to led lights?

Will be getting my farbricator to knock up some guards soon!!!

Fitting LED's is simple but you will need a ballast resistor to make the indicators work properly. They are a lot slimmer than conventional bulb units so are easier to keep out of trouble.

Don't go cheap or you will be replacing them when the diodes start to fail.

all the scrap wagons running into liverpool docks run led lights on there artic trailers most common ones are hamburger led lights i think there called

If you go with the "hamburger" lights be sure they are 12 or dual voltage

They are common fit on trucks so a lot are 24 volt

  • 2 weeks later...

i got a vauxhall movano and the lights got broken.

I got a friend who was hand with a welder to make me some guards, cost me £20.

i would do it myself but no welder.

Admittedly not a pretty as them but basically the same thing.

went to get new lenses the other day, vauxhall quoted me £240! + VAT

in their wisdom they will only sell the entire uniot, housing and all ( but no bulbs).

£20 each for the lenses on ebay.

its a crazy world we live in some days!
