Looking for some friendly advice on pay...

my opinion is as long as youre happy with what youre getting, thats the correct wage, deserved or not, we all think we're worth more than we get in this industry for what we do, but in reality its obviously not the case

 

to many people in the arb game our industry isnt work, its a lifestyle choice

 

reality check, theres hundreds of lads for firms to choose from in exactly the same position as you, youve heard from some on here already, earning £45 per day-theyre youre competition

 

get youre self with someone who may pay peanuts, but will give you experience

 

once up to scratch, thats when Arb work starts to become rewarding financially

 

if youre good, you MAY take 6months to be competant enough to earn £80 pd AS A CLIMBER (remember youre boss may be paying a groundie a one-er, but the groundie isnt slowing the jobs up farting about in the tree learning), it may take you 4 years to be good enough to earn £80

 

 

 

As a new member on here I agree with the comment it is a lifestyle thing. As somebody who is looking to get experience and get the tickets I understand I will earn a lot less than I do at the moment and appreciate you have to start off on lower wages but it can be offset with the better quality of life and better lifestyle. As somebody else said it's not all about the money :001_cool:

Twelve quid a day when I started, then after six months it went up to fourteen quid. Mind you that was 82 when a pint was about 85p. Anyone that works for me with no experience gets no more than £50 a day.

 

 

yes £50 a day is fine with no experiance but joe has all his tickets, i just thought that £60 was sort of the going rate and to be honest i would work for £50 a day, please dont think i am snubbing everyone i just genuinley thought that £60 was a normall days rate for a labour? obvious i am wrong? :bored:

No offence but that's ridiculous! HTF is someone supposed to live on that????!!!!!! I make no apologies for saying there are some tight mean greedy employers around here :thumbdown:

Is that someone that employs a trainee arborist sometimes costing him money and time on jobs to train, and still having to find the extra wage on a job that doesnt really stand it or need an extra pair of hands on it in order to help a keen lad that you see some promise in gain experience, that most companies wont even entertain eploying him without?...I think not! :mad1:

Have post on this thread yet but here goes, All i have got to say is i wish i had the opportunity that Joe's got when i was that age. Collage, work, experience, and what looks like a decent boss that looks after the lad:cool1::thumbup1: and to finish it all off abit of cash in my pocket at the end of the week.

 

Joe if you carry on with the attitude you have you will go far mate:001_smile::thumbup1:
