That's me out then, one I haven't the time to do the cpc or want to spend money on something I'am not using at the moment. I passed my test in 1985 it now sounds as if you have to do it again.another money making idea by the government what is this country coming too

I'm 50. I had my HGV medical recently.

The last time I went to the docs before that was to have my HGV medical. The time before that was to have my HGV medical.

I am aware how lucky I am to not need the services of my doctor, I seriously hate the fact that i am required to do cpc. It is bollocks!

How can it possibly make sense to say I need re-educating on something that a HGV driver does every day.

How can it make sense that that re-education requirement can be satisfied by turning up drunk from the night before and just sleeping all the way through and it still being OK.

How can it be OK to do the same session 5 times and the "course" is satisfied?

How many times do you drive don the road and think "that HGV driver needs re-educating"? and compared to the idiot car drivers on the road who do you think needs re-educating?

This country is just swamped by too many people both living off the backs of those trying to get a job done and doing all in their power to prevent the tryers from succeeding!!!!!!!!

Amazing comments, very Ayn Rand (look it up), very right.

you dont have to do the cpc to keep your truck categories do you ,its just to be able to drive professionally,? is this correct?

thanks carl

i think your rite >>> but for me its worth it £300 split over 5 years and i can jump into anything is worth keeping £60 year ??? after spending a small fortune in the first place 30 years ago to get a class 1 then let it go for the sake of £60 me at 50/51 still got a few miles left in me yet etc

Yes that's right.

I dont drive as a profession so was going to give it a miss but in doing so would give up the acquired rights . That then means having to do all four parts of the drivers cpc and not just the 35 hours if I later decide to go for it. What a pain.

Most cpc training courses are over sub scribed at the moment as so many people have left it so late to do the courses ..... however it costs a great deal less to become an HGV driver than it does to become an Arb and the pay is similar !! Training is becoming a real burden , I know it is useful / essential but is just becoming excessive . It is also a barrier to people to change jobs , years ago it was far easier and did not involve course after course and assessments !! I have just had my digi card renewal £ 19

We all lose acquired rights in September this year, you don't lose your hgv entitlement after that date, as far as I know if you wanted to drive professionally after that date you would just have to do the 35 hours dcpc course`s.

Again as far as I know, the 4 parts is the initial dcpc for people just acquiring a hgv licence.
