Depends what you want it for but a 361 is a very good powerful ground saw and is capable of most tasks, the new model is a 362. You should be able to pick one up second hand at the right price.

Failing that a 261 is a good saw but lacks power compared to the 361/362 but on the plus side it's lighter.

The MS261 is too heavy, bulky and clumsy to handle for a 50cc saw. The 550xp is much better in all those regards, as is the (now dicontiued) 346xp.

The MS362 suffers from the same in the 60cc class - but the ol' MS361 surely didn't!

if you want a chainsaw for £500 in the 500cc class there are as harvey says the dolmar PS-5105 a good straightforward, reliable , lively workhorse

and also there is the 115 an old school saw which is proven reliable and powerful both saws would be good value for money :thumbup:

What are you going to do with it and how much of it are you intending to do? Do you need a workhorse or something for the weekends? (No tittering in the back rows ease.)

I could not afford the Wheatbix to be able to handle that size of saw.:001_tt2::001_tt2:
