if you want to stop any critter bitting you that flys, get some sash cord old style get some salt peter from chemist soak sash cord for 24hrs hang out to dry then cut it into lenghts and set light to it will burn for hours and smell a bit like rotten cabbage will not come near. used it with muzzels loaders to fire match lock. and never had any critters bothering me

What war was that you were in Hedge ? :thumbup: Apinol is pine oil and you can get it from different manufacturers. Pine oil is essential oil distilled from needles and cones so next conifer you are doing collect some and have a go.

Well larch sap / smell doesn't work! They love it in there!

I hate cleggs with a vengeance but after several summers of being bitten, aged fourteen, fifteen & sixteen whilst weeding, I'm sure your mind develops a subconscious swatting reaction to their buzz and landings....

English civil war on the royalist side had my own falconette cannon. good fun when young and single.
