Ditch it. Get a td5 with a JE Engineering stage 1 tune = 175 bhp & 395 NM....... ;)

if you were going to all the trouble of putting a TD5 I it you might aswell drop a TDV6 in it

Why waste your money? Tweaking the pump simply to pull more load only results in black smoke so adding expensive intercoolers and bigger turbos just seems like a waste of effort too.

I'd hazard that there are very few 200 series LR's under 100k miles now and if you want to keep it reliable just keep it well serviced with nice clean oil and less wear on the clutch/brakes and ultimately the transmission......Sailsbury rear axles need half shafts and the drives replacing around 100k for starters as the splines wear out. More strain on this too so more £'s!

Did 274,000 miles in my 200TDI auto Disco, just sold ( well gave away really) a TD5 Disco at 262,000.

At 180,000 they will need a set of injectors, these can be sourced from breakers easily enough.

My trucks gear box has done about 40k and the transfer box has only done about 6.

the chassis and bulkhead are solid, as far as im concerned, everything else is a service item! Its just the inconvinience of it not working thats iritating!

Hi William, did the head swop to a friends 200,talk about grunt and speed! and you have the nice layout of pipes etc….. i would recommend a larger intercooler too……they love cold air so the more the better!

As for td5…. have one, love it to bits but when they meet a hill…. dies a death…. my 300tdi tipper does 87mph up hill down dale loaded or empty, pump is tweaked, but still playing with the fine tuning of it…. to be honest, empty on back roads its suicidal, the 130" were never meant to travel at those speeds…. but it is fun!

Fully loaded,Just shy of 5.5 cube of chip, and she is a boat, but only fill her that full if i am staying off roads or popping down the road:001_rolleyes:

3" exhaust?Yup! why not? sounds Great and if you have more air in then you have to have more air out …. after all an engine is just an air pumps why restrict it…..

I'm now starting to plan doing this, aside from the obvious of head, turbo and manifold what else should be on my shopping list e.g. Injectors and pipes?

Also what do I need to sort out the timing belt and make that work with the 300 rockershaft? Thanks, William.

What about an EGR blanking kit ? I think you can do that on a 200. I know you can on a 300. Not sure how much extra performance you would gain from that.

Hi al not lot if take off egr my mate was running extra boost on his 200tdi went well thanks Jon
